Terms of Service
Effective July 24, 2026
Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MAVE — Muslim Communities Engaged website, Muslim Advocacy Day update service, representative finder, community-group links, and related features (collectively, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
About the Service
MAVE provides information and tools intended to support civic participation in Virginia. The Service may allow you to request Muslim Advocacy Day updates, identify public officials associated with a Virginia address, receive results by email, connect with district community groups, and access an external donation page.
MAVE is not a government agency. Information on the Service is not an official government record and is not legal advice.
Muslim Advocacy Day
Joining the event-update list does not register you for Muslim Advocacy Day, reserve a seat, guarantee a meeting with an elected official, or reserve bus transportation. Attendee registration and any applicable transportation reservation must be completed separately after those forms open.
Event dates, times, venues, schedules, speakers, transportation, meals, costs, capacity, and participation requirements may change. MAVE may postpone, relocate, modify, or cancel the event when reasonably necessary. We will use reasonable efforts to notify affected registrants through the contact information they provide.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to submit personal information through the online Service. If you are under the age of majority, a parent or guardian may need to complete event registration or approve your participation. Additional eligibility, consent, or conduct requirements may apply to the in-person event.
Your Information
Information you submit must be accurate, current, and yours to provide. Do not submit another person's contact details or home address unless that person authorized you to do so. Our collection and use of information is described in the Privacy Policy.
Emails and Other Communications
If you use the representative finder, MAVE may send the requested representative results and available group links to your email address. If you join the Muslim Advocacy Day update list, MAVE may email you about registration, preparation, transportation, and material event changes.
You may opt out of nonessential emails using an available unsubscribe link or by contacting us. Opting out does not prevent MAVE from responding to a request you made or sending a necessary message about an event for which you later register.
Community Groups
District groups are intended for respectful civic participation and community coordination. MAVE may establish group guidelines, moderate discussions, and remove participants whose conduct is unsafe, disruptive, unlawful, or inconsistent with the group's purpose.
WhatsApp groups are hosted by Meta. MAVE does not control the platform and cannot guarantee the privacy, availability, or conduct of every participant. Information you share in a group may be visible to other group members.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or unauthorized personal information.
- Use the Service or a MAVE community group for spam, harassment, threats, discrimination, impersonation, or unlawful activity.
- Interfere with, overload, probe, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems.
- Use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access the Service without written permission, except ordinary search-engine indexing.
- Copy, frame, or commercially exploit the Service or its content in a way that violates law or MAVE's rights.
Representative and Civic Information
District and representative results are generated from public and third-party data on a best-effort basis. Boundaries, officeholders, contact details, and source data can change or contain errors. MAVE does not guarantee that results are complete, current, or error-free. Confirm important information through an official government source.
Donations
Donations are processed on an external PayPal page and are subject to PayPal's terms and privacy practices. You are responsible for checking the amount and payment details before completing a donation.
MAVE does not guarantee that every contribution is tax-deductible. Consult your tax adviser regarding your circumstances. Questions about an erroneous donation or refund request should be sent to MAVE and may also require action through PayPal.
Third-Party Services and Links
The Service uses or links to third-party services, including Google Maps, the U.S. Census Bureau, WhatsApp/Meta, PayPal, and email and hosting providers. MAVE does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their availability, content, security, terms, or privacy practices. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms.
MAVE Content and Branding
The Service and its original design, text, graphics, logos, and other content are owned by or licensed to MAVE and are protected by applicable law. These Terms permit personal, noncommercial use of the Service. They do not grant permission to use MAVE's name, logo, or branding or to reproduce substantial portions of the Service.
Suspension or Termination
MAVE may suspend or terminate access to the Service or a community group when reasonably necessary to protect participants, enforce these Terms, comply with law, or protect the integrity of our systems. You may stop using the Service at any time.
Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” MAVE disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will always be available, secure, accurate, or error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some exclusions may not apply to you.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, MAVE and its directors, officers, staff, volunteers, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising from or related to the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that must be brought in court will be brought in a court with jurisdiction in Virginia, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Changes and Severability
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The revised Terms will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes may receive additional notice when appropriate. If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
